The Project Concept
The project involves the processing of indigenous botanicals to produce biologically active extracts and natural ingredients for export. The main raw materials are Voacanga africana seeds, Griffonia simplicifolia seeds, Miracle Berry (Synsepalum dulcificum) fruits and Annatto (Bixa orellana) seeds. The raw materials will be supplied through an extensive network of accredited collectors in Ghana. GEGL intends to set up the processing factory at Ojobi in the Central Region of Ghana.
The main considerations for the factory location are the centrality of the place with respect to the adjoining regions of Greater Accra, Western, Eastern, Ashanti, Volta, and Brong Ahafo Regions. The location is easily accessible by road and near to sources of raw materials, water, electricity and telecommunication facilities.
The Project Promoter
The main promoter/sponsor of this project is Syed Shahid Alhassan who is also the CEO of GEGL.
